I agree with the above, when I first had tiscali it was very good... but the last couple of years has been shit... so I left them like for another isp... and as you can guess they are still trying to get money out of me that I do not owe them...
Now known as talk talk and still as crap... stay as far way from the thieving bastards as you can.

my father who is ill with dementia wanted a new chair and found an advert in a newspaper from great british mobility, against my advice he rang them and ordered a chair for hire, they took £300 instantly and then said you'll get your chair within a month, weeks later no chair! i decided to cancel the order but when you ring them theres some receptionist that has no information and no one is available, they take your details and thats i quote " the way it is" which i think is unnaceptable as there adverts are aimed at the old and frail.
i eventually had a phonecall denying they had taken the money, then when i told them i had proof that the money had been taken they decided to blame someone else for the mix up and said i had to write in, which i had already done, so they then said ok well you'll receive your money in 21 days.......
28 days later....
i phoned and got the same old response from the helpful receptionist and no phonecall.
29 days later....
eventually had a phonecall but they had no record of my fathers purchase and said i'll have to ring back later while they find the details.
hours later....
i got a phonecall saying that my refund was with accounts and will be returned but they did'nt know when, i asked for them to find out but apparently the accounts section will not talk to anyone and they will return it when they get around to it, i told them this was not acceptable and was told "thats the way it is" and they cut me off.
i would urge anyone to steer clear of this company! they are two bob rip off merchants and aim there adverts at the old and frail.
GREAT BRITISH MOBILITY!

I recently went for an interview at the Vauxhall HQ for XLN as sales executive. another 24 candidates were also present for the interview which was conducted by the notorious 'Steven Pun'. Even before he entered, Mr Rohan gave a brief intro about steven and his status in the company as a CEO. Funnily enough, many ppl working in organisations never get to meet their CEO's during their entire career, n here are a bunch of ppl who do not even belong to the business yet having the pleasure so soon. lol....

moving on... Mr steve introduces himself and begins conducting not an interview but a lecture about what im still not quite clear on til now..

He then goes on to blow his own trumpet claiming to have made his 1st million when he was 26 which is 4 yrs ago and adds he owns properties across the globe and never uses public transport lol.

At this point it is all mind games...marketing tactics to be in control of the situation and make you feel beneath him and envy his position in the company.

After boring the crap out of you, he tries to conduct an interview for each individual in the same room infront off all the candidates 4 hours later as if he were alan sugar giving you the oppertunity of a life time.

He also claims to have met Alan Sugar, Richard Branson and many other Big Shots as if they are freinds and go for regular meals lol.

At the end of it they call me back for the training and suprisingly enough Mr Punn the millionairre CEO is back here conducting the training as if he has nothing more important to take care of.

At this point i am beginning to develop this gut feeling something isnt quite right but i brush the feeling thinkin maybe i'm lookin too much into it.

we are then told the 1st week training is not paid for but the following 2 are. by the 3rd day i have finally researched into the company and gladly thanks to forums such as these am able to back my gut feelings with others experiences. After having wasted 3 days of my time i call mr punn b4 going business to business for him for free and tell him 2 go and F**K himself because i am on to his scam. HAHAHAHAHAHA

P.S. id like to thank the guyz from forums such as this one for backing my gut feeling and giving me closure on the fact i was right all along about this pyramid scam. cummon wot millionaire ceo actually trains new trainees himself. Its all an act for the week, and im sure there's guyz still out their that i began training with gettin ripped off as we read and unfortunately as i do not have their contact details, cannot warn them. Oh well... maybe they'll just have 2 learn the hard way im just glad i didnt have 2 go door 2 door for weeks before clocking on to it myself....

Yeah so i was browsing the web looking for a new job and found managers required no experience necessary in Manchester... Thought it was too good to be true... and it was.
I phoned to ask for more details and was instantly given an interview. They didn't ask for my CV which i thought was kinda weird...
They didn't say the company was XLN Telecoms, she just said on the phone it was a manager position training people on broadband. I thought my luck was in and couldn't wait to get my email with the details. I guess they shot themselves in the foot with it because though they sent links to their websites, i decided to google it for myself and the auto text fill box came up with XLN Telecom scam as soon as i'd written XLN T... I had a read through and couldn't believe what i was reading. I decided to ring them and ask what exactly the job was. She quoted the same bull to me that it was a field based manager role. I said i will not be attending the interview and she asked why. I told her i basically thought it was a scam because of all the complaints on the internet and that it seemed i would be working for nothing and there was just posts about how many people had fallen for it and not been paid. The woman seemed to choke a little bit and then said "ok"
ok? if the company i worked for received a complaint like that we'd check it out. You know slander and all that. I'd kinda want to look into that... But no she just said ok. So when i politely explained i was scratching my arse on the interview date and completely forgot about my prior arrangement she simply wasn't bothered and hung up. I didn't go to it obviously and glad i cancelled the day annual leave i planned to go to the interview. If you're thinking about it, i wouldn't waste your time. There is absolutely nothing on their website about the job description etc. Thank god for google thats all i can say.

My son (20+) was recently (Jan’10) offered a ‘job’ with this organisation who purport to be linked in some way to ‘BT’ although I am unsure if this is true (certainly ‘Ofcom’ believe it to be untrue).

He was told “we train you the first week then send you out to get sales (signups for telecoms and broadband) for the following two weeks ‘BUT’ you will not be paid for your time because “we want people who are going to get sales and not just take a wage”.

Incidentally the job lead was sourced through our local Benefits Agency and advertised as ‘sales manager £12,000 p.a. plus bonuses. Funnily enough though ‘XLN Telecoms’ was not mentioned as the company name until he got to the interview (I suspect if it had been, the Benefits Agency would have had nothing to do with them) given their profile on the net.

He was not offered reimbursement for his travel expenses in attending the interview.

An old cynic like me might then assume that what this organisation is doing is using relatively ‘green’ and desperate young people to go out unpaid for two weeks to generate leads for them and then ‘bag’ them off with not so much as a thank you and little, if anything, to show for their efforts, apart from a harsh lesson in being exploited. Be warned !!!!!!

They will lie to you and steal your wages and use intimidation to scare you from doing a thing about it!! Beware!!!! They have over 50 job ads for "trainee manager" all over the internet that all tell the same lies and lure you into selling door to door for no wage!!

(Here is their ads! They all say the same thing and they hire every week to replace all the ones that quit the week before!)

Dylan james management is currently recruiting for candidates to join their team. We are part of a rapidly expanding management group, seeking individuals of the highest calibre to drive the growth of our business as part of a multi million pound expansion plan. We offer full training specifically tailored to our unique business concept, which is based in and around the north west.

(there are no managers or "management group"! Everyone is a "manager
trainee" or "team leader trainee"! There are no salespeople! You are the sales person! There is no "multi-million pounds"! Alan Gray is broke and he will tell you that all the time to explain why he don't pay you!)

Job spec :
- train, build, manage and motivate a team of 6 - 10 people that specialize in new customer acquisition.
- pro-active and willing to work alongside their team members.
- to be a leader and an excellent role model within the organisation.
- ensure that all employees under your supervision uphold Dylan James management’s values and codes of practice.
- hitting set individual and team targets to achieve continuous growth.
- train new employees and evaluating their performance in accordance with company targets and policies.

(you are taken to the street door to door on your second day by another
"manager trainee" who thinks you are on his team, and if you don't sell
anything by Friday, you are sacked! There are no employees! you are all self employed and you have to pay your own taxes and insurance and travel money out of your own pocket! Michael Bradwell, the muscleman and "enforcer" for Alan Gray's values and code of practice, is the only employee and he only makes £300 a week!)

Successful candidates must be:
- applicants must have good communication skills and be self-motivated.
- be extremely enthusiastic and hardworking.
- willing to push boundaries and work under pressure in an extremely fast paced environment.
- posses a genuine desire for individual success and growth in accordance with company terms and conditions.
- highly motivated and able to manage motivate and grow a strong successful team.
- enthusiastic with a positive attitude, whatever the circumstances.

(they look for the young people and out of work and desperate and are gullible and believe their lies about big salary and a desk job as a manager! You can't question anyone about anything or you get sacked and they tell everyone else that you were negative and thats why they quit you! You are not allowed to call anyone after they quit and they even tell you on your first day you can't exchange phone numbers with other "manager trainees" in case they quit because they figured it out too!)

Whilst previous managerial experience is preferable, it is not essential, as we will provide a fully funded intensive training programme to all successful applicants. The majority of our current staff had no relevant experience when they started the position, we are more concerned with hiring candidates based on their personalities and work ethics rather than what they may or may not have done in the past.

Remuneration:
- the training academy is fully funded for all successful candidates.

(there is no "fully funded training programme"! you are self employed so you can't ask for a basic and you are on straight commission. Your sales only pay for their wages. They call the first week the "values week" and if you don't sell anything that week, you are sacked because you are not with their values they say! No pay for your work that week, and it actually cost you money to travel!)

- remuneration during the training programme is on two weekly basis and related directly to your performance.

(and if you don't sell enough in the second week, the firewalk, they sack you before the two weeks are done and never pay you and tell you your sales were all canceled! They tell you are not an A player and you will get a commission after three weeks but you never will see it!)

- following successful completion of training you will be offered a salary of between 18k - 30k (OTE 40k – 100k) renegotiated every three months.

(there is never a salary! That is a lie! No one there is on a basic! That is why everyone quits after two weeks! You trust Alan Gray because he is convincing and he says he is a guy just like you! Then he turns right around and hires another 10 people he has lied to just like you every week!)

Candidates who are interested should contact Angela or Natalie on 0161 832 0608 before sending an e-mail of their CV to: [email address and website does not exist any more].

(Its not a management group, its a sales scam, and Alan Gray is a liar and a con artist! He doesn't even work for Xln or Christian Nellemann! If you call Xln they will tell you that they have no connection to Alan Gray or Dylan James Management and they are not funding a million pounds for his expansion and Christian Nellemann's name is not even supposed to be on the website for Dylan James!! All they will say to you is that he is a customer, just like Steven Punn! No one takes responsibility and they don't hold anyone accountable for lying and cheating good honest people who just need a job! Steven Punn has been there for the whole time Xln has been open and has more complaints and scam reports than anyone! Just enter "xln" in the search engine here and look for your self! The only reason Alan Gray and Michael Bradwell don't have more is because they have only been in business for 8 months! Just look at these other reports on them so far!)

(If you have been scammed by this company or threatened by Alan Gray or
Michael Bradwell, beware! They have very deep connections with drug dealers and gangsters in Ireland and they are very dangerous! Just respond to this report and send your email address and phone number confidential to the editor and there will be someone to contact you and take your statement. We have already got two more people who were scammed by them to stand up and I'm sure there will be a whole lot more to come!)

They will lie to you and steal your wages and use intimidation to scare you from doing a thing about it!! Beware!!!! They have over 50 job ads for “trainee manager” all over the internet that all tell the same lies and lure you into selling door to door for no wage!!

(there are no managers or “management group”! Everyone is a “manager
trainee” or “team leader trainee”! There are no salespeople! You are the sales person! There is no “multi-million pounds”! Alan Gray is broke and he will tell you that all the time to explain why he don’t pay you!)

Job spec :
- train, build, manage and motivate a team of 6 – 10 people that specialize in new customer acquisition.

(you are taken to the street door to door on your second day by another
“manager trainee” who thinks you are on his team, and if you don’t sell
anything by Friday, you are sacked! There are no employees! you are all self employed and you have to pay your own taxes and insurance and travel money out of your own pocket! Michael Bradwell, the muscleman and “enforcer” for Alan Gray’s values and code of practice, is the only employee and he only makes £300 a week!)

You can’t question anyone about anything or you get sacked and they tell everyone else that you were negative and thats why they quit you! You are not allowed to call anyone after they quit and they even tell you on your first day you can’t exchange phone numbers with other “manager trainees” in case they quit because they figured it out too!)

(there is no “fully funded training programme”! you are self employed so you can’t ask for a basic and you are on straight commission. Your sales only pay for their wages. They call the first week the “values week” and if you don’t sell anything that week, you are sacked because you are not with their values they say! No pay for your work that week, and it actually cost you money to travel!)

- remuneration during the training programme is on two weekly basis and related directly to your performance.

(and if you don’t sell enough in the second week, the firewalk, they sack you before the two weeks are done and never pay you and tell you your sales were all canceled! They tell you are not an A player and you will get a commission after three weeks but you never will see it!)

- following successful completion of training you will be offered a salary of between 18k – 30k (OTE 40k – 100k) renegotiated every three months.

He doesn’t even work for Xln or Christian Nellemann! If you call Xln they will tell you that they have no connection to Alan Gray or Dylan James Management and they are not funding a million pounds for his expansion and Christian Nellemann’s name is not even supposed to be on the website for Dylan James!! All they will say to you is that he is a customer, just like Steven Punn! No one takes responsibility and they don’t hold anyone accountable for lying and cheating good honest people who just need a job! Steven Punn has been there for the whole time Xln has been open and has more complaints and scam reports than anyone! Just enter “xln” in the search engine here and look for your self!
This is all very interesting and possibly believable.

I had an interview with XLN Telecom and though that there was something a little fishy in the interview process. The usual nonsense in so much as you are on a plane and it crashes in Alsaka .. etc etc... Then sandwiches and then the news... Sorry can you leave.. very rude indeed. Didn't aknowledge anyone even as they were walking out the door. Perhaps they may have thought we were too bright... only looking for the lame and gullible.

XLN, EA Worlwide , Aspire Aquisitions.. all use Total Jobs and Gumtree to sell there ideals.

I too was a victim of their scam! Don't be fooled by the jobs they offer and the person in charge of recruitment, Steven Pun. The company itself operate legitimately, but when it comes to the employees of the company, then no. Everyone applies to the job thinking it's for a Trainee Branch manager/sales executive role; in reality it's for a 'Field Sales Role.' They don't even pay you. This is how they get monster profits, every year.

Hello,
Another method for sending money abroad is prepaid cards. I work on behalf of Escape MasterCard Prepaid Card which is the cheapest way to get money to friends or family abroad – done in 60 seconds and it’s for free. Escape also brings financial inclusion with no bank account needed plus, unlike many prepaid cards, is available to everyone.

Methods like Moneybookers can be expensive and slow, with Escape you avoid such problems. They are available from Phones 4u stores. Check out the website for more information http://www.escape-prepaid-card.com/bgesc and a video which explains how it works too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daFqjCAwfRI

Tom,

Are you kidding me? Let's put it this way, are you still there now?

And the managers that are there - how well do you know them?

Be sceptical my friend. When something is too good to be true, it's...

Anyway, does this sound familiar?

going to tiscali was the worst decision i could have made. the broadband never worked and i must have rang them 20 times to get it sorted. nice people but difficult to understand them often. they then refused to cancel me saying quite correctly that i was signed in for 12 month. Yes, i said, but it hasnt worked properly and i have had to ring you 20 times to fix it. tough luck was the overriding answer. you signed. very bad service and they will not scrap the early cancellation charge unless you can prove that you had no service for 28 continuous service. do not touch them is my feedback.

I am with Unicom and all i can say is its been great. Been with them 2 years now, When i signed up it was a 3 years fixed contract meaning prices were frozen and not vournerable to rises anually. I was with XLN before and their contract was 2 years but on a 28 day rolling contract meaning they could put prices up once per month without informing you. Early bills were great saved a fortune compared to BT but after 4 months XLN started the stealth price increases and i ended up not any better off. Now with Unicom im saving roughly 65% off my total bill which is about £120 per month (lot of money) and its frozen. Perhaps unicom has changed its contract after realizing the customer diss-satisfaction? I honestly dont know but i just dont have anything bad to say about Unicom but a page load of negative issues with XLN

Tom, I worked for that American guy in Manchester back in October last year and my impression was that he was pretty legit. I never interviewed with someone so blunt and honest and he even told me to go research all the bad publicity the company has had before I even started. It's how I found this site and a few others like the gumtree forum. I had to quit cuz my wife had medical problems but I kept in touch with the guy who trained me and he finished it and I guess got everything he was promised. Actually, I called him not too long ago and he told me he got his own office now so, I guess it's true. I did see allot of people quit while was there but I didn't really see them quit because of a lie or anything. I just think they were more the type that wanted a basic pay and some of them definately had bad attitudes anyways. I will tell you this though, I definately made cash when I was there in training and the American guy was pretty funny to work with. He even told me to put him down as a reference on my CV when I had to leave and I thought that was pretty cool. I have thought about going back again to finish but my wife got a great job and so I'm gonna stay home and be mum for a few years. Good luck and I hope this helps.

I am currently in my first week at a new franchise in Manchester that has just being setup. I am getting mixed reviews of this academy on the one hand it does seem like it is too good to be true. But are people just complaining on here because they didnt have the right attitude to get through to the end? I have met some of the managers and they seem to have coped with the training and are in a situation were they can have 5 people working for them and have started ther own concessions business.

I still have that feeling in my gut that something just isnt right but if it is possible to make that type of money through this scheme do I really want to throw this opportunity away?

I was the unfortunate victim of XLN's academy 'training' too. Are they allowed to do this by law? - They'd make you go out and get contracts - at least 2 a day (although the minimum requirement goes up to 3 in your third week of the academy 'training') and if you fail to do this you are fired instantly on the spot! XLN's director Christian has a right hand man named Steven Punn who runs the academy which is based in Vauxhall, London. He makes you feel like you are worthless and does not even acknowledge or look at you if you fail to get his contracts. None of us were paid for the training nor the contracts, in fact they only pay you 100 pounds in your third week to cover the cost of travel and food - this works out as 10 pounds per day for travel and 10 for food per day! This amount never goes up in terms of pay and you are promised to become a concessions after 8 weeks of training. The reality is that, as with all pyramid scams, you are left having to go out on the field for this sales operation even after your full 8 weeks of training and even then do not get any pay till you build 'your team' and trust me, builidng your team is impossible. I mean, would you really stic around for 8 weeks only to have the people above you beenfit from all the money and you getting stuck on 100 pounds per week if ur lucky?!
Steven Punn may claim to have made his millions throguh this scam but the truth is its easy to make millions when your sat at the top of the pyramid and lack any morals or values when it comes to being a hard cold hearted sales mob! Im glad i left this so called job, many of the people i met in my situation have all left and have greater successful jobs, with paid training (what a shocker!)

It depends on the size of chip, how long it has been there, whether or not rain/dirt has got into chip etc etc

usually 9/10 it will be transparent and you will be left with a tiny spot similar in size to a biro tip

£98 is a severly inflated price

if you are covered by full comp insurance it would of been free, a new windscreen would of been £60 xs

to put it into perspective most independent windscreen companys would probably charge in region of £30-49.50

You also made a bad choice with XLN. They are a major rip off company. I had the unfortunate pleasure of entering their management "acadamy". It was a pyramid scheme, nothing more and nothing less. luckilly, i wasn't tied into a contract. I despise XLN and others like it, sorry to hear you're yet another victim.

Here is a transcript of a phone call I had with Sheriff Ratings.com

I was conned, I hope you read this before you are

My partner received a call from Google, asking for me. I took the call.

Telephone ; ‘Hello sir, I am calling from Google. Have you heard of Google?’

Me ; ‘Yes’

Telephone ; ‘Google is offering a service to small to medium businesses the chance to improve their ratings on the Google search pages, would you be interested in such a service?’

‘Me ; 'Yes. Are you honestly from Google’

Telephone ; ‘Yes. I am calling you from their headquarters in London. What we are offering you is the chance to lift your Google ratings and guarantee you will be on the first or second pages of a goggle search whenever someone searches for your company using a combination of 60 keywords of phrases. How does that sound to you sir?’

Me ; ‘How do you get me up the listings, is it pay per click or sponsored links?

Telephone ; ‘No, no sir you will be displayed on the left hand side of the search page we do not use sponsored links.’

Me ; ‘Sounds great but how much will this cost me?’

Telephone ; ‘Well sir we are doing a special deal at the moment the price is usually 699 but the deal is 399.’

Me ; ‘399?’

Telephone ; ‘Yes, 399’

Me ; ‘Can you send me some details about what you are offering because I am only a small business and cant afford to spend almost £400’

Telephone ; ‘Let me stop you there sir. Did you say four hundred pounds sir?’

Me ; ‘yes’

Telephone ; ‘No its three ninety nine.’

Me ; ‘you mean three pounds ninety nine pence?’

Telephone ; ‘Yes sir’

Me ; ‘three pounds ninety nine pence?’

Telephone ; ‘That is correct, sir.’

Me ; ‘Oh i thought you meant £399.’

Telephone ; ‘I was wondering when you said £400’, laughs

I then agree to hand over my credit card details.
Three days later there is £399 taken off my credit card by someone called Sheriff Directories LTD.

I have called there has been no response, they know how to dance around providing a service. Oh and the service they offer is a pay per click service through Google at a much elevated cost, so really the offer no service at all. Go to Google.
Let this be a warning!

Tiscali took over Pipex - and we're cancelling our Pipex broadband after having been with them for more than 3 years. I know we shouldn't be charged for cancellation fees but I found a bill for cancellation charge of £1.64 deducted from my bank. I asked Pipex what this is for - sending them an email - and it's become a big joke - cos the people they employ for replying to emails must be coming out of some lunatic asylum - cos they keep repeating what I say to them with standard questions of : Give us your account, date of birth, address and tel...and the last reply - they sent me a copy of a reply to Mr McDougall (whoever the poor chap is) with the same question fo Give us your account, date of birth, address and tel...I think someone needs a brain surgery over there.
Glad I am leaving them - and you know what - I have informed my bank to stop the direct debit. As for a refund for what they have already managed to "steal" from my bank account - well, I'll keep you posted.

Unicom is a company which people should avoid signing up with - unless you like to be tied eternally to a fate worse than death.
5 years ago, we were new to the UK and didn't know the good, bad or ugly of the telephone service providers. We were unlucky in signing up with Unicom (also known as switchingon.com). When we tried to leave them after the 1 year contract, we were told that the fine print says we have to give at least 3 months notice - which we didn't - so automatic rollover was 3 years. We found out then that many others were trapped like us with this 3 year rollover scheme. Anyway, making very sure that we weren't going to be tied eternally to this unfair contract, we gave a written letter of notice for cancellation almost a year before the contract ended, then again, we sent the reminder just a few days before the 3 months notice. However, we made the mistake of signing up with another ISP to takeover the telephone a month before the contract ended - although we told the new ISP (XLN) that their contract should not start until after the date of the end of the contract with Unicom. The new ISP agreed that they know what they are doing - that they are used to dealing with Unicom's ex-customers. However, XLN messed up & we received a letter from Unicom threatening us with an early termination fee of £1200 cos they said that we are cancelling the contract on the 25th of March 2009 and not 4th April 2009. Our stress levels just hit the roof with that one.
